Project Method

How a project runs: from first questions to launch.

No vague design presentations and no endless rounds of revision. We organise decisions into clear steps: establish the facts, test a working draft in the browser, check accessibility on real devices, and improve based on real customer use.

Stage 01 Discovery

Questionnaire (online or printed)

You start by filling in a straightforward questionnaire. You can complete it online directly in your browser, or print it out to complete with a pen over a cup of tea. There is no technical jargon—just clear questions about what services you offer, where you operate, what customers usually ask, and what you need from an enquiry before you can quote.

Stage 02 Alignment

Written brief and missing-decisions list

Instead of jumping straight into visual mockups, I compile a written project brief and a short "missing decisions" list. This documents the exact operational rules that need agreement—such as your cancellation policies, deposit amounts, service radius, or mandatory form questions. Resolving these decisions early ensures the build never gets blocked halfway through.

Artefact · Excerpt from missing-decisions list Resolved before coding
  • ✓
Emergency callout termsClearly distinguish daytime rates from weekend emergency rates
  • ✓
Postcode boundaryPostcode intake check upfront to prevent out-of-area requests
  • ✓
Photo intakeRequire customer to upload a clear photo of the fault before booking
Stage 03 Implementation

Working draft on a private link

You review a working website in your web browser on a private staging link, not flat image designs or non-interactive PDFs. You can tap buttons, scroll on your phone, test form submissions, and evaluate how the copy reads in real context.

Stage 04 Verification

Checks on phones, keyboard, and screen readers

Before any site goes live, it goes through systematic accessibility and performance checks. We test readability in bright light, verify that navigation works smoothly without a mouse using only a keyboard, ensure screen reader landmarks and form labels are properly announced, and verify fast loading on weak mobile network connections.

Stage 05 Go-Live & Till Handover

Edge launch and optional countertop stands

We connect the site to your custom domain on Cloudflare's edge network, configure SSL certificates and DNS routing, and test live form handoffs. If you ordered "Tap & Scan" countertop stands, we print the 300 DPI optical-clear PET vector QR labels, program and lock the NTAG215 NFC chips to go.yourdomain.co.uk/book, and test them on your till in under three minutes.

Stage 06 Evolution

Managed updates and real-world improvements

A launch is only the start of the site's useful life. Under the £29/month managed retainer, we handle routine menu, price, and staff copy updates, run monthly Google Maps listing audits, and refine pages whenever customers hit operational friction.
