Rowan Electrical & Rewire
Electrical work done safely, with exact scope agreed before any tools open.
Cal Rowan installs modern consumer units with surge protection, EV home chargers, and carries out detailed EICR condition reports across Sheffield and the Hope Valley. Every job is quoted from photos and survey notes, never blind guesses.
Electrical installations & inspections
All domestic work carried out to BS 7671 standards with calibrated instrument verification.
Metal consumer unit upgrade — £540
4–6 hours · Non-combustible metal consumer unit with individual RCBOs, Type 2 surge protection (SPD), and meter tails upgrade
EV home charge point (7.4kW) — £620
3–4 hours · Dedicated supply circuit, pen-fault detection charging unit, cable routing, and DNO notification filing
Domestic EICR inspection & testing — £180
2–3 hours · Full circuit testing: insulation resistance, loop impedance, and RCD disconnection times with detailed report
Kitchen or workshop circuit addition — £290
3–5 hours · Dedicated 32A radial or ring circuit from board, surface galvanised conduit or flush chasing, twin socket outlets
Prices include calibrated instrument testing and digital compliance certification. Supply capacity and main bonding must be inspected prior to final quote.

Why blind quotes fail on electrics
An EV charger or consumer unit upgrade depends directly on earthing arrangements (TN-S, TN-C-S, TT) and main bonding to water and gas supplies. Reviewing photos of your board and meter first prevents unexpected variations on the day.
EICR inspection rigor
Every circuit is tested with calibrated multifunction instruments: insulation resistance, earth fault loop impedance, and RCD trip times. We classify defects strictly according to C1, C2, and C3 codes without scare tactics or manufactured upselling.
Clean domestic working
Protective floor runners are rolled out before tools are unpacked. All wall chasing and masonry drilling connects directly to M-class dust extraction vacuums to keep stone and plaster dust out of living rooms.
From enquiry to signed-off work
1
Photo review & supply check
You upload a photo of your fuseboard with the outer lid closed, plus your incoming meter and supply fuse.
2
Clear written estimate
Cal calculates cable run lengths, earthing requirements, and specifies the exact components in a written quote.
3
Dust-controlled installation
Work proceeds using protective floor runners, tool extraction, and neat cable routing through floor voids.
4
Instrument testing & certificate
Every circuit is tested with multifunction testers, and your digital compliance certificate is emailed within 24 hours.

Common enquiries
How do I photograph my fuseboard safely?
Keep the hinged outer door closed and never unscrew any cover plates. Stand back about one metre in good lighting so the main switch, all circuit switches, and surrounding meter cables are visible in a single photo.
How long does an EICR take on a 3-bed house?
Typically between two and three hours. Power is isolated circuit-by-circuit for short testing intervals so freezers and heating systems are not disrupted.
What happens if my installation fails the EICR?
The report will itemise any immediate hazards (Code C1) or potential dangers (Code C2). Cal explains each observation clearly with photographic evidence and provides a separate quote for remedial work without obligation.
Can my existing 60A main fuse support a 7.4kW EV charger?
We calculate maximum demand under diversity rules. If a supply fuse upgrade to 80A or 100A is needed, we liaise with Northern Powergrid on your behalf to request the free fuse upgrade before installation.
